Alison “MetalBabe” Cohen: What is the meaning behind the band name Generation Mangled?

Nima Farahani: The name of the band has to do with the current state of the music industry, which we consider in dire straits. It’s the age of dead heroes and today’s music doesn’t really seem to move anyone.  It is a terrible time for music, all at the expense of today’s youth – generation mangled.

Metal Babe: What a great name with an in-depth meaning.  Can you please elaborate a bit more on your viewpoint of the current state of the music industry?

Nima: The music industry is at an all-time low, which is likely why there are no more real record companies and record stores. The music business has changed dramatically - and not for the better. We believe that music requires: 1) Musicians 2) Playing musical instruments. Without musicians playing musical instruments, you cannot have music. You may be able to have sound/noise, but it is not music. A guy talking over a drum machine is not music.
